We live in a mobile world of smartphones and applications to manage all of our affairs. With more than 600,000 applications available, the options are limitless and almost overwhelming. Unfortunately, there’s not an app to help you pick apps, but we got you covered anyway! This week, we decided to ask the King of Mobile, Steve Ashley, to share his top five favorite applications. Maybe if we use his apps, we’ll gain some of his mobile savvy!
SHOP Mobile “Duh! We all have to buy things and go shopping so I might as well get Cashback for my purchases.”
Steve’s right – this app is a no brainer for shopping smart. The enhanced shopping features such as Cashback and earned IBV found online are brought to your phone with the SHOP Mobile App. The SHOP Mobile app features a Barcode Scanner, which allows you to scan products in store and find the better deal on SHOP.COM, Custom Deal Notifications, which sends notifications for sales and deals from your favorite store, and a Hot Deals feature which lists all running sales and promotions. Find out more about the SHOP Mobile barcode scanner by clicking here, and the Custom Deal Notifications by clicking here. SHOP Mobile is available for free in both the Google Play and the Apple Store.
CNBC Real Time “I have to check how the stocks and retirement accounts are performing.”
Powered by NBC, CNBC Real Time is the only free smart phone application that delivers market quotes at all hours. With CNBC Real Time, you can set custom time frames, including pre and post market trading. This app offers exclusive breaking news and information so that you can take the markets with you everywhere. CNBC Real Time is available for free in both the Google Play and the Apple Store.
Hootsuite “For my social fix and managing company accounts.”
Hootsuite is a social media team favorite and essential for anyone that uses social media to build their business. Also available as a desktop app, Hootsuite allows a user to link multiple social media accounts under one hub to schedule updates and monitor feeds. With Hootsuite, you can check your statistics to analyze your reach and what types of content do the best with your followers. This app is a social media essential for creating the optimal influence. Hootsuite is available for free in both the Google Play and the Apple Store.
Wells Fargo “Banking anyone?! Easy to transfer money between accounts and make payments.”
More and more, banks are going mobile, and for good reason. As an entrepreneur, you stay moving and have the luxury to avoid settling. When you carry your business in your pocket, it only makes sense to carry your funds, as well. Wells Fargo mobile gives the banker secure 24/7 access to their account, allows the user to manage and transfer funds, pay bills, and monitor spending wherever they’re standing! Wells Fargo Mobile is available for free in Google Play and the Apple Store.
Temple Run 2 and Wurdle “It makes waiting rooms go by faster by playing a game or two.”
While apps optimize efficiency for the on the go lifestyle, they also provide a mental refresh with countless options for fun and entertainment. Steve’s go-tos for mobile mental down time include navigating whimsical lands of ancient idols and treasure and testing his linguistic craft at fast paced word searches. Both of these games are available for free in both Google Play and the Apple Store.
For extra credit: “I’m a huge sports fan, but most sports applications are terrible (PGA Tour and MLB excluded!) Mobile web sites for ESPN and CBS Sports are far better for live scores than apps.”
Do you and Steve love any of the same apps? What apps work best for you that you would recommend to Steve? Tell us in the comments below!
