Organize. If there’s work looming over your head at home, an essential step is to get organized. Write out exactly what you need to do and how long you think it will take. This will help you to balance your work with other tasks you may need to complete around the house. If your paperwork will take a half hour, throw in a load of laundry ahead of time. It will be ready for the dryer when you’re finished!
Ask for help. Encouragement goes a long way! If you’re struggling to stay motivated, ask your team for support! Ask them to check in with you periodically to see how you’re coming along on your assignment. You may get irritated that they’re constantly questioning you, but you’ll thank them later when your work is done.
Don’t work too late. If you’re afraid of pulling the classic college “all-nighter,” don’t let it happen! Nobody does their best work when they’re tired and exhausted. Get some sleep and get up bright and early to finish up your work. It’s amazing what a good night’s sleep will do for your motivation once you’re up in the morning and ready to tackle the day!
Coffee! Ok, coffee isn’t for everyone, but it’s great at keeping you on track while you work from home. Don’t forget to eat a snack or drink something before picking up a project or calling your next prospective business partner. Energy that you get through nourishment keeps you focused and motivated to complete the task at hand. It can also keep your mood up – which will make phone conversations and online messaging more fun.
How do you stay motivated to build your business during the week?
