Five Ways to Get Motivated to Work After Work

After a long day in the office, it’s difficult to come home and start working on your own business. You need to invest time in your UnFranchise® Business in order to escape the day-to-day grind of a J.O.B., but how do you get motivated to work when you want to nap, watch television, or hang out with your family or friends? Here are our tips for finding the motivation to work after work:

Reward yourself. If you’ve had a long day and still need to devote hours to your business,, give yourself a reward to work towards. It will instantly boost your motivation and encourage you to finish in a timely manner. I enjoy browsing blogs and shopping online. If I’m working at home, I tell myself that once it’s finished I’ll allow myself an hour to read through some of my favorite sites, or browse for my favorite products. If I can’t stand to look at a computer screen for another minute longer, I’ll reward myself with a popsicle and a phone call with my best friend. Choose a reward that’s an incentive for you!

Organize. If there’s work looming over your head at home, an essential step is to get organized. Write out exactly what you need to do and how long you think it will take. This will help you to balance your work with other tasks you may need to complete around the house. If your paperwork will take a half hour, throw in a load of laundry ahead of time. It will be ready for the dryer when you’re finished!

Ask for help. Encouragement goes a long way! If you’re struggling to stay motivated, ask your team for support! Ask them to check in with you periodically to see how you’re coming along on your assignment. You may get irritated that they’re constantly questioning you, but you’ll thank them later when your work is done.

Don’t work too late. If you’re afraid of pulling the classic college “all-nighter,” don’t let it happen! Nobody does their best work when they’re tired and exhausted. Get some sleep and get up bright and early to finish up your work. It’s amazing what a good night’s sleep will do for your motivation once you’re up in the morning and ready to tackle the day!

Coffee! Ok, coffee isn’t for everyone, but it’s great at keeping you on track while you work from home. Don’t forget to eat a snack or drink something before picking up a project or calling your next prospective business partner. Energy that you get through nourishment keeps you focused and motivated to complete the task at hand. It can also keep your mood up – which will make phone conversations and online messaging more fun.

How do you stay motivated to build your business during the week?
